The recipes of my wife, Sudha (Remadevi), have always been special. Family, friends, and anyone who’s tasted her food instantly fall in love with it. She learned to cook the traditional way, from her elders, by watching closely, and through endless practice. Even today, she makes everything from scratch: selecting whole ingredients, cleaning, grinding, roasting, and cooking with patience.

Here’s the thing. Even when she generously shared her recipes, others rarely got the same results. Not because they lacked skill, but because her cooking is more than just steps; it’s her care, her wisdom in choosing the right ingredients, and her belief that food is service from the heart.

Then something changed. We noticed her dishes didn’t taste quite the same anymore. She insisted it was the ingredients. Our sources hadn’t changed, yet the flavour, aroma, and texture had. After some digging, we found the reason.

Today, industries often strip ingredients of their essence, the natural oils, flavours, and nutrients, and sell those separately. What’s left may look the same, but it is hollow. We end up buying the shell while the soul of the ingredient is bottled elsewhere. This isn’t only about taste; it’s about health. When nutrition is lost in food, we turn to supplements that our bodies cannot fully absorb.

Through experience and plenty of failed shopping trips, our family learned how to tell good ingredients from bad. Eventually, we found trusted, high-quality sources again. Expensive, yes, but worth it. 

The moment Sudha cooked with them, everything clicked back into place. The flavours we grew up with returned. The younger ones, tasting it fresh, couldn’t stop raving. That joy made us realise something important; her recipes should not remain within the four walls of our home.

That’s how Aromalay was born, a family-owned brand built to share the food we love, made with the same care, quality, and tradition that defined our lives.
